Occupational Therapist
Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service- Aboriginal Corporation (TAMS-AC), in partnership with Birrelee Multifunctional Aboriginal Children’s Service – Aboriginal Corporation (M.A.C.S) and Tamworth Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (TACCO), is looking for a passionate and qualified Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic Allied Health Team on a 12-month contract. Level 3 or equivalent. In this role, you will collaborate closely to support Aboriginal children and youth, delivering a range of assessments and ongoing therapies designed to enhance holistic health outcomes. Primary responsibilities
As an Occupational Therapist, your key role is to conduct comprehensive assessments aimed at understanding and addressing the unique support needs of individuals. Your expertise will empower clients to live their lives to the fullest by identifying the right blend of equipment, technology, and environmental modifications. Whether working with clients who have physical, psychosocial, or combined needs, your assessments will play a critical role in enhancing their independence and quality of life within the community.
Competencies and skills
- Experience working with diverse communities.
- Experience working with a Paediatric caseload (0-12 years)
- Compassionate, Trauma-Informed and Empathetic approach
- Ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to build rapport.
- Experience administering clinical assessments to evaluate functional capacity.
- Experience developing person-centered goals in consultation with clients.
- Experience delivering evidence-based support services to enhance life skills and independence.
- Experience assessing environments and recommending strategies for inclusion.
- Experience writing clinical reports.
- Experience maintaining communication between schools and parent/carers for the benefit of children and youth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Valid AHPRA Registration.
