Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service-Aboriginal Corporation (TAMS-AC) is recruiting an Aboriginal Administration Officer/Receptionist.

About us

TAMS-AC is the leading provider of a comprehensive range of culturally appropriate primary healthcare services to enhance the health and emotional well-being of the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal community of Tamworth and surrounding districts. TAMS-AC is an Aboriginal community-controlled health service on the land of the Gomeroi people, based in Tamworth NSW. TAMS-AC has successfully delivered culturally appropriate primary healthcare services for First Nations People for close to 30 years. In addition to primary healthcare and day to day health services provided by a large multidisciplinary team, TAMS-AC coordinates access to a range of visiting specialist services and community programs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other service providers.
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and in a way that builds teamwork.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander patients in a culturally appropriate way.
  • Maintain Confidentiality
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and computer literacy.
  • Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • Current National Police Check.
  • Current NSW Driver's License.

Tasks & responsibilities - include but are not limited to;

  • Administrative and Reception duties including transport.
  • Answer telephone, take messages and distribute incoming correspondence.
  • Undertake faxing, printing, photocopying, binding and other administrative duties as required.
  • Timely follow-up on enquiries and communications with patients and other healthcare providers.
  • Provide support to the CEO, TAMS-AC Executive Team and other team members for events if required.
  • Maintain the highest professional standard when representing TAMS-AC.
  • Comply with all TAMS-AC Policies and Procedures.
