Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service – Aboriginal Corporation (TAMS) is seeking a caring and committed Registered Nurse – Practice Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the health and wellbeing of the local Aboriginal community, working in a culturally safe and supportive environment.
About the Role:
As part of our Practice Nurse team, you will work alongside GPs, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, and allied health staff to provide holistic, high-quality clinical care. You’ll be involved in everything from health assessments and chronic disease management to immunisations and health promotion.
Your key responsibilities will include:
• Conducting health assessments, care planning, and follow-up care
• Providing wound care, immunisations, and chronic disease support
• Supporting preventive health programs and patient education
• Support in school programs
• Collaborating with our team to ensure culturally safe, patient-centred care
• Contributing to quality improvement and clinical governance activities
• Supporting our Aboriginal Health Workers and trainees in their development
What We’re Looking For:
• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Experience in primary health, Aboriginal health, or general practice nursing
• A strong commitment to working respectfully with Aboriginal people and communities
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Understanding of culturally appropriate healthcare delivery
• Current CPR certificate, immunisation status, a valid NSW Working with Children Check and current National Police Check
• Familiarity with clinical software (e.g. Best Practice) is desirable
